Help! I can't do this alone.

Book Club Resources

Hosted By: Joy Loverde

About the Book Club:

Imagine this… you’re busy at work or at home when the phone rings. It’s the emergency room telling you to come quickly. Your elderly family member has been taken to the hospital and they need your help right now. And life as you once knew it changed in an instant.

You and you alone cannot handle the ups and downs and myriad responsibilities associated with eldercare. Please join Joy and fellow book club members for lively and insightful conversations on the topic of getting help.

You’ll gain valuable information on resources for getting assistance and you’ll never have to go it alone again.

About the Host:

Joy Loverde’s bestselling book, "The Complete Eldercare Planner: Where to Start, Questions to Ask, How to Find Help,” (Random House, 2009, Updated and Revised) reflects the depth of her understanding and compassion for the needs of older Americans. “The book is the best we saw…” says the American Medical Association.

Joy’s eldercare advocacy began in 1985 when she introduced Corporate America to eldercare at a time when child-care issues prevailed. Since then, she has travelled world-wide and interacted with thousands of professionals and family members who manage the responsibilities of caring for older adults and loved ones.

A seasoned media professional, Joy provides keynotes, interviews, and on-camera product endorsements and has worked with some of the best-known names in American business. Joy has been interviewed on the Today Show, CBS Early Show, Fox News, NPR, ABC News and many others. Her book has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Family Circle, AARP Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Psychology Today, Real Simple, Business Week, Money Magazine, and Women’s Day to name a few.  USA Today featured Joy’s work in a four-part series.

Joy’s work as a marketing consultant includes corporations, law firms, financial professionals, insurance companies, clergy, healthcare organizations, senior housing, manufacturers, and other members of the fast-growing mature-market.

Joy is an active member of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian-Americans and Chicago’s historic St. Joseph Church. An avid advocate for the prevention of elder abuse, Joy established the Center for Older Adults’ caregiver support group at Fourth Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.  She is the grandmother of seven, and lives in Chicago with her husband, David and her mom, Alba.
